This seven-storey Steeple, stands 38 meters tall and was built in 1626 at the foot of High Street. It is topped by a clock and a stone crown and is the most important historic feature of Glasgow Cross. The Steeple is all that remains of the more extensive Tolbooth buildings which contained the town hall, court, and jail. The clock however still works!
